Momfessional

So I took a little hiatus from blogging for a while... because...well the whole blogging world comes across as so polished, so perfect. (Professional food photos and our children's perfect & polished stats for all the world to see.)

I'm guilty of blogging only the polished, perfect things. But my real life? It's full of messy imperfection, temper-tantrums, and meals that are a giant disaster.

So I decided to share with you my "Momfessionals". A collection of my imperfections that I've learned to laugh at and embrace, because, they are the salt of life, these imperfections.

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'" 2 Corinthians 12:9

  • Sometimes I buy organic food for my daughter. Sometimes that organic food falls on the floor and I don't have the energy to make a new batch, so it is called dinner, and it is served.
  • Lucy loves to help with everything right now, including feeding the animals. This is a great activity for her to do while I am cooking. It also may or may not make the animals fat.
  • My favorite time this week has been snuggling with her while she watches Elmo. This girl is crazy for Elmo (and Abby Dabby), and I am so thankful she found something on TV that holds her attention. And gives us a chance to snuggle. And rest.
  • I bought a time-out timer this week. Time outs are a JOKE right now, but I am persevering. When she has to go into timeout, she thinks its comical and has a smirk on her face. Then I put on my most serious face & tone and tell her she has to sit there until the timer beeps. Then I walk away. Then she walks away. She pretends to find something very interesting outside and peeks through the blinds. I put her BACK in timeout, and the cycle repeats. (All in under 1 minute.)
I'd love to hear your Momfessionals. Because, let's be honest people; that saying "it takes a village to raise a child"...is no joke.
